🏍️ The Suches–Dahlonega Loop (Sunrock Classic Ride)

A Ride You’ll Come Back To Again and Again

It’s always about the ride.

The stops are just a little icing on the cake.

And this loop is a perfect example of that. You’re not riding this route just to get somewhere—you’re riding it because the road itself is the destination. GA-60 out of Blue Ridge has a rhythm that just feels right. Long, sweeping curves, steady elevation, and pavement that lets you relax into it instead of constantly working.

What makes this ride stand out is how naturally everything connects. Nothing feels forced. The road flows, the stops fall exactly where you want them, and the whole loop just works—whether you’re riding with a big group or just a couple bikes.

☕ Starting Out – Blue Ridge

Dunkin’

3471 E First St, Blue Ridge, GA 30513

Simple, easy meetup. Coffee, fuel next door, and a place for everyone to roll in before heading out.

🛣️ GA-60 South – The Ride Begins

Heading out of Blue Ridge, GA-60 sets the tone immediately. It’s not overly technical, but it’s far from boring. This is one of those roads where you find your pace and just settle into it.

🛑 Two Wheels of Suches

Two Wheels of Suches

1915 GA-60, Suches, GA 30572

A true North Georgia motorcycle staple. Bikes lined up out front, riders hanging around, and that relaxed “stay as long as you want” kind of atmosphere.

It’s not fancy—and it doesn’t need to be.

🍯 Optional Stop – Dahlonega Meadery

If the group’s in no rush getting into town, there’s a nice little optional stop just before Dahlonega that’s worth mentioning.

Dahlonega Meadery

This is a smaller, more laid-back spot, but that’s part of the appeal. They’ve got a good variety of meads on tap—everything from traditional honey-forward pours to some more flavored options—and they usually have a handful of beers on tap as well if mead isn’t your thing.

It’s a great place to slow things down for a few minutes. Not nearly as busy as the square, a little more tucked away, and just a different kind of stop compared to your typical brewery.

We don’t hit it every ride, but when we do, it’s usually because the group wants something a little different before heading into Dahlonega for lunch.

🍔 Dahlonega – One of the Best Stops on the Loop

Dahlonega is more than just a lunch stop—it’s part of the experience.

This is an old gold rush town, and you can feel that history when you roll into the square. The downtown area is clean, walkable, and just has a great small-town mountain vibe. Brick buildings, local shops, and a really nice courthouse square that makes you want to stick around a bit.

You’ve got places like a classic general store, Kilwins for ice cream if you’re in the mood for something sweet, and plenty of spots to just wander for a few minutes before getting back on the bike.

Spirits Tavern

19 E Main St, Dahlonega, GA 30533

This is usually where we land.  Great burgers, full bar, and a slightly old-western feel that fits Dahlonega perfectly. It’s easy, it’s consistent, and it’s exactly what you want mid-ride.

🍻 Alternative Option: Shenanigans Irish Pub

Shenanigans is another solid stop right in town. It’s got a fun Irish pub vibe, good drinks, and it’s definitely worth checking out if you want to mix things up.

That said—I still lean toward Spirits for the food, especially if you’re coming in hungry after the ride down from Suches.

🌄 GA-52 – Opening It Back Up

Leaving Dahlonega, you pick up 52 and things open up again. Longer views, sweeping turns, and a really enjoyable stretch as you work your way toward Ellijay.

The Ellijay Decision

This is where the group usually splits based on preference (and time of year).

🍎 Reece’s Cider Company OR 🍺 Cartecay River Brewing Company

🍎 Reece’s Cider Company

9110 GA-52 E, Ellijay, GA 30536

Reece’s is one of those places that just feels like fall—even when it’s not.

Big outdoor deck, tons of seating, and a really lively, family-friendly atmosphere. You’ve got orchards all around, people hanging out, kids running around, and usually something going on—whether it’s food trucks or just a good crowd.

Their cider selection is excellent, and grabbing a growler to go is pretty common here. It’s a great place to relax for a bit and soak in the setting.

🍺 Cartecay River Brewing Company

26 River St, Ellijay, GA 30540

If cider’s not your thing, Cartecay is the move.

Beautiful spot right by the river with a recently updated deck that really makes it easy to hang out for a while. They’ve got a permanent food truck setup now, which is a nice upgrade, and a solid lineup of beers.

Inside, there’s definitely a bit of a Harley vibe—laid back, welcoming, and very motorcycle friendly. Plenty of space to park and easy to settle in with a group.

🛣️ Boardtown Road – The Ride Home

This is one of the most underrated parts of the loop.

Instead of dealing with 515, you cut across and pick up Boardtown Road. It’s smooth, lightly traveled, and just enough curve to keep you engaged without asking too much at the end of the ride.

Perfect way to wind things down.

🍺 Final Stop – Back in Blue Ridge

If the group’s not quite ready to call it a day, there’s one last stop that usually wraps things up perfectly.

Angry Hops Brewing

342 E Main St, Blue Ridge, GA 30513

Dedicated motorcycle parking, great beer, and a crowd that always seems to include a few other riders finishing up their day. It’s a good place to sit for a bit, talk through the ride, and start figuring out where to go next time.
